History of the Murat cornucopia pastry<\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The making of the Murat cornet dates back to the 19th century, shaped by our grandmothers in the countryside and then slipped into the knapsacks of the little cowherds (children who went out for the day to watch the cows). This cone-shaped biscuit is said to be reminiscent of the horns of our Salers cows.<\/p>\n

This recipe is said to have been taken up by the baker-confectioners of Murat since at least 1868, as rare historical writings attest that a first shop bore the sign that year \u00bb Aux Cornets De Murat<\/strong> \u00ab. Of course, you can find this recipe on various cooking websites, but you will miss the touch that our dear pastry chefs from Murat keep well hidden.<\/p>\n

22nd edition of the Murat Cornets Festival<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

It was in 2004 that this festival was born, created by the town of Murat and taken over in 2008 by an association Murat cornets<\/em>. It takes place every year on the 3rd-th<\/sup> September Sunday and attracts between 10,000 and 15,000 visitors a year. The event takes place in the heart of the town of Murat. You can enjoy the savoury or sweet cornets. It is a gourmet and festive gathering.<\/p>\n

The cornets (around 16,000) are made in the days leading up to the festival by Murat bakers, and the various fillings are prepared by the chefs of the town's restaurants.<\/p>\n
